A dangling or detached panel can strike other vehicles or pedestrians, increasing the risk of a crash or injury, and the dealer repair will be free once available.

What's wrong?
The solar panel on 2022-2026 Royal Truck & Equipment Traffic Control Vehicle trucks supplies power to the Wanco sign board. Self-tapping screws, fasteners that cut their own threads as they are installed, hold the panel to the sign board. Those fasteners are supposed to keep the panel secure during normal road use.
On affected trucks, road vibration can cause the screws to back out. The installation drawings did not specify the correct fastener, so self-tapping screws were used instead of rivets. As the screws loosen, the solar panel can partially detach from the sign board, though its wiring can keep it connected to the truck. The free recall repair replaces the screws with rivets that stay secured during normal use.
An operator can notice the solar panel hanging partly loose or striking the side of the vehicle. Contact with the vehicle is the warning sign that the panel has started to disengage.
