2025-2026 Harley-Davidson Softail Recall 26V234: Brake Leak

Recall 26V234 covers 16,994 2025-2026 Harley-Davidson Flhc, Fxbb, Fxlrs, and Fxlrst motorcycles for rear brake line leaks. Repair is free at any franchised Harley-Davidson dealer.

Harley-Davidson is recalling 16,994 2025-2026 Flhc, Fxbb, Fxlrs, and Fxlrst Softail motorcycles because the rear brake line can contact the Body Control Module, wear through, leak brake fluid, and cause loss of rear braking. Loss of the rear brakes raises crash risk, and the dealer repair will be free once available.

What's wrong?

The rear brake line on 2025-2026 Harley-Davidson Flhc, Fxbb, Fxlrs, and Fxlrst Softail motorcycles carries pressurized brake fluid to the rear brake. When the rider presses the rear brake pedal, the line feeds hydraulic pressure so the rear brake clamps and slows the motorcycle. The electrical caddy holds the Body Control Module, or BCM, a computer module that supports body electrical functions.

On affected motorcycles, the rear brake line has too little clearance from the BCM area. Contact between the line and the BCM wears into the brake line and creates a hole. Once the line is damaged, brake fluid leaks out and rear brake pressure drops, which leads to reduced or lost rear braking.

A rider can see brake fluid underneath the motorcycle before the rear brake fails. The other warning sign is weaker rear brake performance, such as less braking response from the rear pedal.

What's the safety risk?

Loss of the rear brakes increases the risk of a crash. Brake fluid under the motorcycle or weaker rear braking is a warning sign. If either appears, park the motorcycle and call a Harley-Davidson dealer before riding again. Repair will be free at any franchised Harley-Davidson dealer once available.

What should I do?

  1. Check your VIN to confirm your 2025-2026 Harley-Davidson Flhc, Fxbb, Fxlrs, or Fxlrst is included in this recall.
  2. Watch for Harley-Davidson's owner letter before scheduling the free dealer repair.
  3. Contact a franchised Harley-Davidson dealer once the repair opens for the BCM caddy replacement and brake-line inspection that address rear brake-line contact and brake fluid loss.
  4. Reference recall number 26V234 when you call the dealer.
  5. Ride cautiously until the repair is complete. Use extra stopping distance and avoid hard rear-brake use.

What happens at the repair

Once Harley-Davidson opens the final dealer repair, a Harley-Davidson technician will replace the BCM caddy and associated hardware. The technician will also inspect the rear brake line for damage and replace the brake line and related parts when damage is found. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. Harley-Davidson uses its standard reimbursement plan for this campaign. If you already paid for the same repair before the recall notice, keep invoices and repair paperwork so the service desk or Harley-Davidson customer service can review the claim.
