What's wrong?
The EC80 Advanced Electronic Control Unit on the International 2026-2027 Mv is the brake control computer. It helps manage anti-skid braking and sends brake commands for driver-assist features such as adaptive cruise control, or ACC, and hill hold assist. Hill hold assist keeps the truck from rolling when starting on a grade.
On affected trucks, an ABS ECU software update changed a parameter that disabled that brake-command function. In electric vehicles, the change stopped hill hold assist from activating. In diesel vehicles with ACC Stop & Driver Go, the same issue affected ACC braking events, so the service brakes do not activate when that feature calls for braking.
There is no warning sign before failure. International confirmed there is no driver warning indicator when ACC braking is less effective on affected diesel vehicles.

What's the safety risk?
A vehicle that does not automatically brake as expected gives the driver less help avoiding a crash and increases the risk of a crash. There is no warning sign before failure, so schedule the brake ECU software update soon. Repair is free at any franchised International dealer.
