Recall 26V059 covers 456,287 2024-2026 Ram and Jeep vehicles for trailer tow module failure. Repair is free at any franchised Ram dealer.
Ram is recalling 456,287 2024-2026 vehicles, including Ram 1500 pickups and Jeep Wagoneer S SUVs, because an improperly designed trailer tow module can leave trailer brake lights and turn signals dark and trailer brakes inoperative. Reduced trailer visibility and lost trailer braking increase crash risk; Ram dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The trailer tow module is the control unit that connects the vehicle's electrical and braking commands to a connected trailer. On affected 2024-2026 trucks and SUVs, it is supposed to send turn-signal commands, stop-lamp commands, and trailer-brake commands from the vehicle to the trailer when the driver steers, signals, or brakes.
The problem is the module design. When the driver uses the turn signal, the trailer turn signal does not flash. When the driver presses the service brake pedal, the trailer stop lamps do not activate. On vehicles equipped with trailer brakes, the trailer brakes do not function. The repair uses an updated trailer tow module design.
There is no warning sign before failure. The first sign is the trailer lights or trailer brakes failing to respond when the vehicle commands them.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether this recall applies to your specific vehicle.
What's the safety risk?
Trailer brake lights and turn signals that fail to illuminate make the trailer harder for other drivers to see. Trailer brakes that fail also increase crash risk by reducing braking support from the trailer. There is no warning sign before failure. Drive cautiously, avoid towing until the module is replaced, and schedule the repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised Ram dealer.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Ram technician replaces the trailer tow module. The new module is installed free under the recall, including parts and labor. This repair addresses the module design that can stop trailer lights from illuminating and can affect trailer brake operation. The manufacturer used its standard reimbursement plan, so documented out-of-pocket repairs tied to the trailer tow module can be submitted for review. Bring repair paperwork and receipts to the service desk, or contact FCA US customer service if the dealer asks for manufacturer review.
