What's wrong?
The instrument cluster on these 2025-2026 Hyundai vehicles is the screen and gauge unit in front of the driver. It shows speed, warnings, gear status, and other driving information. On models including the Tucson Hybrid, Tucson Plug-In Hybrid, Ioniq 5, Santa Cruz, Kona, Palisade, Santa Fe, Sonata, and hybrid variants, that display is controlled by cluster software and a power management processor.
The problem starts with electrical noise inside the PMIC processor. That noise causes the system to read operating temperature incorrectly. When the cluster thinks the temperature is outside the proper range, its thermal protection function activates and reboots the instrument panel display. During that reboot, the cluster goes temporarily blank while the system restores itself.
There is no warning sign before failure. The display can blank out during driving without an earlier message, light, or symptom that tells the owner the reboot is about to happen.

What happens at the repair
Hyundai will update the instrument panel display software over the air or at a Hyundai dealer, free of charge. If the vehicle needs dealer service, a Hyundai technician installs the software update that corrects the display failure. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. Hyundai uses its general reimbursement plan for owners who already paid for a related display software repair before the recall notice. Keep documentation for that repair and ask Hyundai customer service or the dealer service desk how to submit it.
