What's wrong?
The Parking Assist ECU on the 2024-2025 Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid is the computer that controls the Panoramic View Monitor camera display. When the truck is shifted into reverse, that computer is supposed to switch the screen to the rearview camera image so the driver can see the area behind the vehicle.
In affected trucks, the parking assist software can process camera-view change requests in the wrong order. After a view change request, the system can get stuck on another camera view or show a black image. The camera display then cannot change views again until the ignition is cycled, so the rearview image does not appear during a backing event.
There is no warning sign before failure. The driver sees the problem only when reverse is selected and the rearview image is missing, stuck on another view, or replaced by a black screen.
Who's affected?
Covers both Tundra and Tundra Hybrid pickups from the 2024 and 2025 model years, all using the same parking-assist ECU software.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific pickup truck is included.
What's the safety risk?
If the rearview camera image does not appear, the driver has less visibility behind the truck, which increases the risk of a crash while backing up. Use mirrors, look over your shoulder, and schedule the software update soon. Repair is free at any franchised Toyota dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2024-2025 Toyota Tundra or Tundra Hybrid is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Toyota dealer to schedule the free parking assist ECU software update that fixes the rearview-camera display failure in reverse.
- Bring the recall notice if Toyota mailed one, or reference recall number 26V038 and Toyota recall 26TB02 or 26TA02 when you call.
- Use extra care when backing up until the update is complete, and check behind the truck before reversing.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Toyota technician updates the parking assist ECU software for the Panoramic View Monitor system. The update corrects the programming tied to the rearview camera display when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. Parts and labor are free under the recall. Toyota uses its general reimbursement plan for this campaign. If you already paid for a related repair before the recall notice, ask Toyota or the dealer how to submit documentation.
