2022-2026 Lucid Air Recall 26V017: Rear Camera Display

Recall 26V017 covers 10,816 2022-2026 Lucid Air vehicles with rearview cameras that fail in reverse. Lucid released a free OTA software update.

Lucid is recalling 10,816 2022-2026 Air vehicles with the AD02 package and software versions 2.8.0 through 2.8.16 because the rearview camera image can fail to display when the vehicle is in reverse. That reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle and increases crash risk, and Lucid dealers will provide the free repair.

What's wrong?

The rearview camera system on 2022-2026 Lucid Air vehicles with the AD02 package uses ACU software to wake the camera hardware and send the rear image to the right cockpit panel display when the car is shifted into reverse. That image gives the driver the rear visibility required before backing up.

On affected cars, software versions 2.8.0 through 2.8.16 put too much compute load on the Autonomous Control Unit as it wakes from sleep. The ACU is the computer that helps provide the camera image. Under that load, it can fail to deliver the rearview image at the needed frame rate, so the Center Console Controller shows a camera error instead of a usable rear view. Software version 2.8.17 changes the ACU startup process for steadier video performance.

The warning sign is visible at the screen. The rearview image does not appear, or the display shows a warning telltale and the message, "Camera Error. Turn your vehicle off and on again."

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether this recall applies to your specific sedan.

What's the safety risk?

If the rearview image does not appear, your view behind the vehicle is reduced, which increases crash risk while backing up. Watch for a blank rearview monitor or a "Camera Error. Turn your vehicle off and on again." message. Schedule the free software update soon. Repair is free at any franchised Lucid dealer.
