What's wrong?
The fuel cell unit assembly in the 2025 Honda Cr-V Fuel Cell EV makes electrical power for the drive system. Inside it, the fuel cell stack uses insulating coolant to manage heat while keeping high-voltage parts separated. The stack case is supposed to keep that coolant out of areas where it can bridge electrical components.
On affected vehicles, sealing at the fuel cell stack end joint and wobble joint can break down. Honda traced the issue to shortened adhesive sealing in one joint and burrs in an O-ring groove at the wobble joint, a coolant connection in the assembly. Coolant can then enter the stack case and create an internal short between the bipolar plate and support-bar housing. That fault can reduce or stop drive power.
The vehicle gives warnings as the leak progresses. Owners can see a power system warning, a low insulating fluid warning, or a reduced power warning. The cluster can also display "Do not drive" or "Stop driving when safe" if the fuel cell stack coolant temperature rises.

What's the safety risk?
An internal short circuit in a fuel cell can cut drive power and increase the risk of a crash or injury. Watch for fuel cell and power system warnings, including low insulating fluid, reduced power, or a stop driving message. If one appears, stop when safe and call a Honda dealer. Repair is free at any franchised Honda dealer.
