What's wrong?

The ceiling-mounted Spheros air conditioning system on 2022-2026 Micro Bird G5 Transit Bus and T-Series Transit Bus vehicles uses a control board to route electrical power to the A/C controls. A power cable feeds that board through a power stud, which is the metal post where the cable attaches and carries current into the board. That connection has to stay tight so electricity flows cleanly.

On the recalled buses, the cable connection at the power stud can loosen after it is connected or reconnected during vehicle manufacture. A loose high-current connection creates resistance, and resistance creates heat at the terminal instead of sending power cleanly through the board. That localized heat can damage the air conditioning control board and nearby wiring in the ceiling-mounted system.

There is no warning sign before failure. An owner or operator should not count on an A/C fault message, odor, or visible damage before the connection overheats.
