What's wrong?

The B-pillar trim on the 2016-2019 Lincoln Mkt is the black exterior applique at the pillar between the front and rear door glass. It helps cover the door structure and gives the side glass area a finished surface. It is attached to the front doors with adhesive tape, so the tape bond has to stay tight against the door sheet metal.

On affected vehicles in campaign 25V827, the driver and front passenger B-pillar trim can loosen and detach while driving. Ford traced the problem to installation conditions at the assembly plant: hand rollers were not used consistently to press the applique into full contact, and foam blocks on the back of the part made the tape wet-out less consistent. A weak bond leaves the applique vulnerable to lifting from the top of the front door.

Owners can see the trim separating near the top of the front doors when getting in or out. Wind noise or rattling while driving is also a warning sign.

What's the safety risk?

Loose B-pillar door trim can detach while driving and create a road hazard, increasing crash risk for other drivers. Watch for trim separating at the top of the front doors, wind noise, or rattling while driving, then schedule the repair promptly. Repair will be free at any franchised Lincoln dealer once available.

What happens at the repair

The final dealer repair is not open yet. Once Lincoln opens it, a Lincoln technician will repair the driver and front passenger B-pillar trim so the trim stays attached while the vehicle is moving. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. Ford uses its standard reimbursement plan for this campaign. If you already paid for a related B-pillar trim repair before the recall notice, keep your receipts and repair paperwork for the claim.
