What's wrong?
The Mechanical Cooling Pump (MCP) on 2021, 2024, 2025 Nova Bus Lfs transit buses circulates coolant through the engine and cooling system. The pump uses an impeller, a rotating blade inside the pump, to move coolant so operating temperatures stay within the designed range. The bus depends on that coolant flow to keep propulsion equipment from overheating.
On the recalled buses, the impeller shaft fitting can be loose. If the shaft does not hold the impeller correctly, the pump loses pumping capability. Coolant flow drops, temperatures rise, and the bus can stop motor propulsion.
The driver should get a dashboard tell-tale when the problem appears. That light is the warning sign to treat the bus as having a cooling pump fault and arrange service before continued operation.
