Recall 25V817 covers 678 2016-2026 International trucks with ECU signal noise that affects brake and stability systems. Repair is free at any franchised International dealer.
International is recalling 678 2016-2026 7600, Lonestar, Lt, Mv, Rh, 8600, Hx, and Hv vehicles because electrical noise and low signal on the power line carrier can make the ECU process commands incorrectly or stop working. Safety systems that depend on the ECU can lose function, which increases crash risk; International dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The EC80 Advanced Electronic Control Unit is the brake computer for the air-brake antilock system on affected International trucks and tractors. It helps manage wheel lockup during braking, and on some builds it also supports automatic traction control or electronic stability functions. On trucks equipped to tow air-braked trailers, it also works with signals that pass through the trailer connection.
On these vehicles, electrical interference and weak power line carrier signal strength can confuse the EC80 software. Power line carrier means a control signal sent over the vehicle's electrical wiring, rather than through a separate signal wire. When the signal is weak and electrical noise is high, the unit can process a command incorrectly or stop working.
The warning sign is the ABS warning lamp. It will turn on when the system detects an ABS fault or when the ABS stops operating, so treat that light as the sign to have the brake control unit checked.

What's the safety risk?
An ECU problem can reduce or disable traction control, ABS, stability control, active cruise control, and collision mitigation, increasing crash risk. If the ABS warning lamp turns on, treat it as a sign that ABS has a fault or has stopped operating. Schedule the repair soon and drive cautiously until the ECU is reprogrammed. Repair is free at any franchised International dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2016-2026 International 7600, 8600, Hv, Hx, Lonestar, Lt, Mv, or Rh is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised International dealer to schedule the free ECU software reprogramming that corrects the brake and stability control command processing.
- Ask the dealer to reference recall number 25V817 and International recall 25525 when booking the repair.
- Bring the owner letter if you have it, and confirm that the ECU software update is recorded before the vehicle returns to service.
- Drive with extra following distance until the repair is complete, since ABS, traction control, stability control, active cruise control, and collision mitigation functions are affected.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an International technician works with Bendix to reprogram the ECU so it processes commands correctly and keeps working as intended. The software repair is free under the recall, with parts and labor covered. If you already paid for a related ECU or electronic braking system repair before the recall notice, International's standard reimbursement plan covers documented expenses. Bring prior repair paperwork and receipts to the service desk, or contact International customer service for claim instructions.
