What's wrong?
The high-voltage battery pack in 2020-2026 Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee plug-in hybrid vehicles stores electricity for electric driving and sends power to the propulsion system. Inside the pack, individual battery cells are separated by a thin internal barrier that keeps cell materials apart so the cell stays stable during charging, driving, and parking.
In affected vehicles, that separator is susceptible to damage. FCA and Samsung SDI identified separator damage combined with other cell interactions as the likely cause. When the separator is damaged, the cell can fail internally. That internal failure can start a high-voltage battery fire while the vehicle is parked or being driven.
There is no warning sign before failure. Owners should not expect a dashboard light, sound, smell, or drivability change to appear before the battery problem becomes dangerous.

What's the safety risk?
A vehicle fire can increase the risk of injury. There is no warning sign before the fire risk, so park outside and away from structures, and do not charge the vehicle until the remedy is complete. Repair is free at any franchised Jeep dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2020-2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee or Wrangler 4Xe is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Jeep dealer to schedule the free high-voltage-battery software update and battery replacement if needed; this fixes the internal battery failure risk behind the fire concern.
- Park outside and away from structures, and stop charging the vehicle until the recall repair is complete.
- Bring the recall notice if Jeep mailed one. If not, reference recall number 25V741 when you call.
- Ask the dealer to confirm the new remedy is performed even if the vehicle was previously repaired under recalls 24V720 or 23V787.
What happens at the repair
Until the repair is complete, follow Jeep's guidance: park outside, park away from structures, and do not charge the vehicle. At the dealer, a Jeep technician updates the high voltage battery software and replaces the high voltage battery if the inspection calls for it. The recall repair, including parts and labor, is free. Chrysler used its general reimbursement plan on file, so if you already paid for this same battery related repair before the notice, ask the service desk or Chrysler customer service how to submit documentation for reimbursement.
