What's wrong?
The moonroof wind deflector is the movable air guide at the front edge of the moonroof opening. When the moonroof is open, it lifts into the airflow and helps reduce wind buffeting and noise inside the cabin.
On affected 2021-2023 Ford vehicles, including F-150, F-250 Sd, F-350 Sd, F-450 Sd, Expedition, and Navigator models, the deflector clips were not fully secured to the moonroof frame. Flash, or extra material left on the clips from manufacturing, kept the clips from seating correctly on the retention tabs. As the moonroof is used and airflow pulls on the deflector, the loose attachment lets the deflector separate from the vehicle.
Owners can visually notice the wind deflector pulling away from the moonroof opening. An increase in wind noise or rattling while the moonroof is open is also a warning sign.

What's the safety risk?
A loose moonroof wind deflector can detach, become a road hazard, and increase the risk of a crash. Watch for visible separation, louder wind noise, or rattling with the moonroof open. Schedule inspection soon and avoid using the moonroof until the dealer checks it. Repair will be free at any franchised Ford dealer once available.
