What's wrong?
The Advanced Signal Actuation Module (ASAM) on these 2024-2025 Altec Aerial Device and Digger Derrick vehicles manages key-on electrical signals from the Freightliner M2 Plus chassis. In normal use, the ignition circuit supplies power to chassis and body equipment while the engine stays running. That circuit has to carry the accessory load without exceeding the fuse rating.
On included units with hydraulic oil tank heaters, the heater was connected to the ignition circuit. When multiple accessories are switched on and the tank heater thermostat calls for heat, the circuit can carry more load than it was built to handle. The overloaded circuit can blow the fuse, cutting engine power and causing an engine shutdown.
A periodic inspection and circuit load test can find the overload risk before the fuse blows. There are no other warning signs that the ignition circuit is overloaded before the shutdown happens.
Who's affected?
Covers both Aerial Device and Digger Derrick configurations across the 2024-2025 model years, all tied to the same Advanced Signal Actuation Module in the ignition electrical system.

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific vehicle is included.
What's the safety risk?
A blown fuse can shut down the engine, which increases the risk of a crash. A periodic inspection and circuit load test can find the circuit overload risk, but there is no normal warning before the fuse blows. Schedule the relay replacement soon. Repair is free at any franchised Altec dealer.
What should I do?
