Recall 25V467 covers 694,271 2020-2024 Ford Bronco Sport and Escape vehicles for cracked fuel injectors. Final repair will be free once available.
Ford is recalling 694,271 2020-2024 Bronco Sport and Escape vehicles with 1.5L engines because a fuel injector can crack and leak fuel inside the engine compartment. Fuel near hot engine or exhaust parts can raise the risk of fire, and Ford dealers will complete the repair free once the remedy is available.

What's wrong?
The high-pressure fuel injector in the 2020-2024 Ford Bronco Sport and Escape with the 1.5L engine meters gasoline into the engine so it can burn in a controlled way. It has to hold fuel under pressure while sealing it inside the injector body and cylinder head area.
On affected vehicles, the injector can crack. Ford identified corrosion as a contributing factor in injector cracking. When the crack opens, fuel can leak at a high rate into the cylinder head, then travel through a drain hole and down onto hot exhaust or turbo surfaces. That creates an underhood fire risk.
Owners can notice fuel odor outside the vehicle or inside the cabin before the problem becomes obvious. If a fire starts, smoke or flames can come from the engine compartment or underbody, and instrument cluster warnings can appear.

What's the safety risk?
A fuel leak near hot engine or exhaust parts increases fire risk. Fuel odor inside or outside the vehicle, smoke, flames, or instrument-cluster warnings are warning signs. If any appear, park in a safe place, shut the vehicle off, and call a Ford dealer for guidance. Repair will be free at any franchised Ford dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm whether your 2020-2024 Ford Bronco Sport or Escape is included in this recall.
- Watch for Ford's final-remedy letter before scheduling the fuel-rail and fuel-injector replacement.
- Contact a franchised Ford dealer about the free interim engine-control-software update for the cracked fuel-injector leak risk.
- Reference recall number 25V467 when you call the dealer or Ford customer service.
- Drive cautiously until the final repair is complete, and stop driving if you smell fuel or see smoke from the engine area.
What happens at the repair
The final remedy is still under development, so do not treat this as a ready to schedule final repair. As the interim step, a Ford technician updates the engine control software at no cost. Once Ford opens the final repair, the dealer will update the software and replace the high pressure fuel rail assembly and fuel injector, free of charge. Ford uses its general reimbursement plan on file for eligible documented expenses paid before the recall repair. Ask Ford customer service or the service desk how to submit documentation.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 25V467?
Recall 25V467 covers 694,271 Ford Bronco Sport and Escape vehicles with 1.5L engines. A fuel injector can crack and leak fuel inside the engine compartment, increasing fire risk near hot engine or exhaust parts. Ford dealers will provide the recall repairs for free.
What should I do if my 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport or 2020-2022 Ford Escape is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific vehicle is included in recall 25V467. If it is, contact a franchised Ford dealer about the interim engine control software update now, and ask to be contacted when the final fuel rail and injector repair opens.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires Ford to repair this safety defect at no cost. The interim engine control software update is free, and the final repair, including the high pressure fuel rail assembly and fuel injector replacement, will also be free once Ford makes it available.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is fire. Ford says a cracked fuel injector can leak fuel inside the engine compartment, and that fuel can ignite near hot engine or exhaust components. If your VIN is included, ask the dealer what interim repair and driving guidance apply to your vehicle.
When will Ford notify owners about the final repair?
Ford mailed interim owner letters on August 29, 2025. Those letters warned owners about the safety risk while the final remedy remained under development. Ford says second letters will be sent once the final repair is available, anticipated in July 2026.
