Chevrolet is recalling 62,468 2019-2024 Silverado 4500, Silverado 5500, and Silverado 6500 vehicles because brake fluid can leak into the brake pressure switch and short the circuit. The short can overheat while driving or parked and raise the risk of fire, so owners should park outside and away from structures until the free Chevrolet dealer repair is available.

What's wrong?
The brake pressure sensor assembly on 2019-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 4500, Silverado 5500, and Silverado 6500 trucks monitors hydraulic brake pressure and sends that signal through a wiring harness. In normal operation, the sensor helps the truck track brake system pressure while brake fluid stays sealed away from the electrical side of the switch.
On affected trucks, a rubber diaphragm inside the sensor assembly can break down over time because the supplier used an unauthorized chemical in the rubber. Once that diaphragm degrades, brake fluid can leak into the brake pressure switch and wiring harness. Fluid in the harness can create a short circuit, activate the brake assist pump when the brake is not being applied, and generate enough heat for an underhood fire.
Before repair, owners can see a "service brake system" warning light. Until the recall remedy is completed, park the truck outdoors.

What's the safety risk?
An electrical short in the brake pressure switch can overheat the circuit and raise the fire risk while driving or parked. Park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. A "service brake system" warning light is a reason to stop and call the dealer. Repair will be free at any franchised Chevrolet dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2019-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 4500, Silverado 6500, 6500, Duplicate Silverado 5500, or Silverado 5500 is included in this recall.
- Park outside and away from structures until the brake pressure switch wire harness repair is complete.
- Contact a franchised Chevrolet dealer to schedule the free wire-harness replacement that stops brake fluid from shorting the brake pressure switch circuit.
- Bring the recall notice if you have it. If not, reference recall number 25V390 and GM recall N242482680 when you call.
- Tell the dealer if the vehicle was repaired under 23V266, because GM says those vehicles need the new remedy completed.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Chevrolet technician will replace the brake pressure switch wire harness. Until that final repair is available and complete, park outside and away from structures. The final dealer repair will be free once available, and parts and labor are covered under the recall. Vehicles that were previously repaired under recall 23V266 still need this new remedy completed. GM used its general reimbursement plan on file for this recall. If you already paid for a related brake pressure switch or wire harness repair before the recall notice, ask GM customer assistance or the service desk how to submit documentation under that plan.
