What's wrong?
The removable step assembly on affected 2024-2025 Forest River trailers uses a clip-on bracket to hold the entry steps to the trailer body. The bracket is the mounting point that keeps the detachable steps locked in place when someone steps into or out of the trailer.
On these trailers, the mounting bolts for the clip-on bracket were assembled without thread locking fluid. That fluid helps keep threaded fasteners from backing out under movement and vibration. Without it, the bolts can loosen, and the bracket can unscrew far enough for the step assembly to detach.
The warning sign is movement at the bracket receiver. If the receiver spins by hand or feels loose, the bracket is already turning against the installed mount. Do not treat a loose step as a normal rattle, because the step assembly depends on that bracket staying tight.

The recall repair is free, with parts and labor covered. If you already paid for a repair within this same defect, Forest River says you can request a refund after the recall inspection confirms the correct parts and procedures were used.
