Recall 25V238 affects 457 2024-2025 Ford E-Transit Chassis vehicles for high-voltage battery water intrusion. Park outside away from structures. Repair is free.
Water inside the high voltage battery can cause an electrical short circuit and increase the risk of a fire. Park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. If the cluster shows "Stop safely now" or "Service vehicle soon," stop safely and call a Ford dealer. Repair is free at any franchised Ford dealer.
Ford is recalling 457 2024-2025 E-Transit Chassis vehicles because the tray side rails for the high-voltage battery pack can buckle and crack, allowing water to enter the battery. Water inside the high-voltage battery can cause an electrical short circuit and raise the risk of a fire, so owners should park outside and away from structures until a Ford dealer completes the free repair.

What's wrong?
The high voltage traction battery assembly in the 2024-2025 Ford E-Transit Chassis stores the energy that powers the electric drive system. Its battery tray side rails are aluminum channels that support and protect the pack. On Extended Range (4P) vehicles, those rails also need to shed water while the chassis waits for body installation or storage.
On affected vehicles, water can collect inside the exposed side rail channels before the box is installed. Repeated freezing and thawing pushes on the aluminum until the rails buckle and crack. Once cracked, the rails can let water into the battery pack, which can cause an isolation loss inside the high voltage system and stop the van from driving or charging.
There are warning signs if the battery detects that fault. A severe isolation loss triggers a "Stop safely now" message on the instrument cluster; after stopping, the vehicle will not drive or charge. A milder fault shows "Service vehicle soon."
Who's affected?
Covers two model years of the E-Transit Chassis, all using the same extended-range high-voltage traction battery.

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific vehicle is included.
What's the safety risk?
Water inside the high voltage battery can cause an electrical short circuit and increase the risk of a fire. Park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. What happens at the repair
Until the repair is finished, park the E-Transit Chassis outside and away from structures. At the dealer, a Ford technician inspects the high voltage battery assembly, then replaces or repairs the battery assembly as needed. The recall repair, including parts and labor, is free. Ford's reimbursement plan gives owners who already paid out of pocket for this repair a path to request reimbursement. Bring repair invoices and proof of payment to the Ford service desk, or contact Ford customer service to start the claim.
