What's wrong?

The transmission valve body in these 2024-2025 F-150, Explorer, Ranger, Bronco, Aviator, and Mustang vehicles controls how transmission fluid moves inside the automatic transmission. It routes hydraulic pressure to the right clutch packs and gears, including the circuits that let the vehicle select reverse, neutral, or forward drive.

On affected vehicles, two bores inside the outer valve body in the main transmission control were machined outside Ford's dimensional specification. Because the bore shape was wrong, the E-Clutch shift solenoid can stick on. That can stop reverse gear from engaging, or it can let the vehicle move forward when the selector is in reverse or neutral.

The warning signs are dashboard lights. The Malfunction Indicator Light and Wrench light will illuminate when this malfunction occurs. If either light appears with a shifting problem, describe both symptoms when you contact a Ford or Lincoln dealer.
