What's wrong?
The second-row center seat belt buckle in the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover and Range Rover Sport is the latch point for the center passenger's seat belt. When the belt tongue is pushed into the buckle, the buckle is supposed to lock it in place so the restraint stays connected during normal driving and a crash.
On affected vehicles, a supplier manufacturing jig failed to hold the buckle's internal cable in the correct location during riveting. That misplaced cable can block the belt tongue inside the buckle. When that happens, the tongue does not latch correctly, so the center rear belt is not secured the way it was built to be.
There is no warning sign before failure. The problem shows up when someone tries to buckle the second-row center belt and it does not lock.

Covers the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, both with the same center rear seat belt buckle assembly.

What's the safety risk?
An unlatched center seat belt will not properly restrain an occupant and increases the risk of injury. Until the buckle and retaining bolt are replaced, check that the center seating position latches before anyone rides there and schedule the repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised Land Rover dealer.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Land Rover technician replaces the second row center seat belt buckle and the buckle retaining bolt. The recall repair is available now, and parts and labor are free. Repairs already paid before the recall notice are handled through Jaguar Land Rover's new vehicle warranty program, not through a separate reimbursement program. Ask the service desk how the warranty applies if you have prior repair paperwork for this seat belt buckle issue.
