2017-2025 Motiv E-450/F-53/F-59 Recall 25V137: TPS Wire

Recall 25V137 covers 222 2017-2025 Motiv chassis vehicles for a loose TPS power-wire pin. Motiv field support repairs the PCM connector for free.

Motiv is recalling 222 2017-2025 chassis vehicles, including the F-59 BEV Chassis, because a throttle position sensor power wire connector pin can loosen and cause loss of signal to the powertrain control module. Loss of drive power increases crash risk, and Motiv dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?

On affected 2017-2025 Motiv E-450 Chassis, E-450 BEV Chassis, F-59 Chassis, F-59 BEV Chassis, F-53 Chassis, and F-53 BEV Chassis vehicles, the throttle position sensor tells the powertrain control module how much drive power the accelerator is requesting. The powertrain control module, or PCM, is the controller that uses that signal to manage propulsion on these electric chassis.

The problem is in the PCM connector, the plug that carries the throttle signal into the controller. During manufacturing, a wire strip tool left too little exposed wire on the throttle position sensor power wire, which led to an incorrect crimp on a connector terminal. That terminal can loosen inside the connector socket and break the electrical connection. When the PCM loses the throttle position signal, the vehicle can lose drive power while moving.

There is no warning sign before failure. The vehicle can be driving normally, then lose propulsion when the signal drops out.

Field incidentsNHTSA has logged no field incidents to date.

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific vehicle is included.

What's the safety risk?

Loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash because the vehicle loses propulsion while in traffic. There is no warning sign before failure, so treat any sudden loss of power as a reason to move out of traffic when safe and arrange service. Repair is free at any franchised Motiv dealer.

What should I do?

  1. Check your VIN to confirm your 2017-2025 Motiv F-59 BEV Chassis, F-53 BEV Chassis, E-450 Chassis, E-450 BEV Chassis, F-59 Chassis, or F-53 Chassis is included in this recall.
  2. Contact Motiv customer service at 1-650-458-4804 to schedule the free recall repair.
  3. Schedule the PCM connector inspection and repair or replacement that fixes the loose TPS power-wire connector pin linked to loss of drive power.
  4. Reference recall number 25V137 when you call, and bring the owner notice if Motiv mailed one to you.
  5. Drive cautiously until the repair is complete, and stop in a safe place if the vehicle loses drive power.

What happens at the repair

Motiv field support technicians handle this repair. The technician inspects the PCM connector tied to the throttle position sensor power wire, then repairs the connector or replaces it if inspection shows the connector pin is loose. The recall repair is free, including parts and labor. Owner letters for recall 25V137 were mailed April 23, 2025, so service support should already be open for included vehicles.

Frequently asked questions

What is recall 25V137?

Recall 25V137 covers 222 2017-2025 Motiv E-450, F-59, and F-53 chassis vehicles with Gen 4, Gen 5, or Gen 6 EPIC powertrains. A throttle position sensor power-wire connector pin can loosen, cut signal to the powertrain control module, and cause loss of drive power.

What should I do if my 2017-2025 Motiv F-59 BEV Chassis, F-53 BEV Chassis, E-450 Chassis, E-450 BEV Chassis, F-59 Chassis, or F-53 Chassis is on this recall?

Check your VIN to confirm your specific chassis is included in recall 25V137. If it is, contact Motiv customer service at 1-650-458-4804 to arrange inspection and repair, or PCM connector replacement. The repair is free.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Federal recall law requires the defect to be repaired at no cost, and Motiv field support technicians will inspect and repair, or replace the PCM connector, free of charge. Reference recall 25V137 when you contact Motiv.

What is the safety risk?

The safety risk is loss of drive power. If the throttle position sensor signal is lost, the powertrain control module can stop receiving the signal it needs, and the vehicle can lose drive power. That increases the risk of a crash.

When were owners notified about recall 25V137?

Motiv mailed owner notification letters on April 23, 2025. If you bought the vehicle used or did not receive a letter, the VIN still decides whether the recall applies. Check your VIN, then contact Motiv with recall number 25V137.
