2021-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Recall 25V083: Camera Display

Recall 25V083 covers 133 2021-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L and Grand Cherokee vehicles for rearview camera display failure. Free repair at any franchised Jeep dealer.

Jeep is recalling 133 2021-2022 Grand Cherokee L and Grand Cherokee vehicles because a transistor in the center stack upper display can overheat and stop the rearview camera image from displaying. The missing rearview image reduces driver visibility and increases crash risk; Jeep dealers will complete the recall repair free of charge.

What's wrong?

The center stack upper display in the 2021-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L and Grand Cherokee is the media screen mounted in the dashboard. On these vehicles, that screen also shows the rearview camera image when the driver shifts into reverse. The rearview image is part of the rear visibility system, so the screen has to power up and show the camera view during backing.

The problem is inside the 10.1" Disassociated Center Stack Display, also called the DCSD. A transistor in the display can overheat. When that happens, the display fails internally and the rearview camera image does not appear on the media screen. The replacement display uses a DCSD that does not contain the suspect transistor.

There is no warning sign before failure. The driver will notice the problem only when the vehicle is shifted into reverse and the rearview image is missing from the screen.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific SUV is included.

What's the safety risk?

A missing rearview image reduces visibility while backing up and increases the risk of a crash. There is no warning sign before the display fails, but you will see the missing image when shifting into reverse. Use mirrors and extra care when backing up until the repair is confirmed. Repair is free at any franchised Jeep dealer.

What should I do?

  1. Check your VIN to confirm your 2021-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L or Grand Cherokee is included in this recall.
  2. Contact a franchised Jeep dealer to confirm the free DCSD replacement that restores the rearview camera display.
  3. Bring the recall notice if you have it, and reference recall number 25V083 when you call.
  4. Confirm the rearview camera image displays before leaving the dealer.

What happens at the repair

At the dealer, a Jeep technician replaces the DCSD, the center stack upper display that shows the rearview camera image. The replacement parts and labor are free under the recall. Chrysler says all affected vehicles have been repaired. If you paid for this repair before the recall notice, contact Chrysler customer service and ask about reimbursement under FCA US's General Reimbursement Plan. Have documentation of the repair cost and payment ready.

Frequently asked questions

What is recall 25V083?

Recall 25V083 covers 133 2021-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L and 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles with a center stack upper display transistor that can overheat and stop the rearview camera image from displaying. Jeep dealers replaced the DCSD for free, and all affected vehicles were reported repaired.

What should I do if my 2021-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L or 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee is on this recall?

Check your VIN to confirm your specific vehicle is included in recall 25V083. If it is listed as open, contact a franchised Jeep dealer and reference recall number 25V083 or Jeep recall 11C. The dealer repair is free.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Federal recall law requires manufacturers to repair safety defects at no cost, and Jeep dealers replaced the affected DCSD free of charge under this recall. The filing says all affected vehicles have been repaired.

What is the safety risk?

The safety risk is reduced rear visibility when the rearview camera image does not display. That loss of visibility increases crash risk while backing up. If your VIN still shows this recall open, arrange the free dealer repair before relying on the camera.
