Recall 25V050 covers 12,236 2022-2025 Mercedes-Benz Eqb electric vehicles for a battery fire risk. Park outside, charge to 80%, and get the free software repair.
A vehicle fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury. While driving, a high-voltage battery warning message can alert you to a thermal incident. When parked, there is no warning. Park outside and away from structures, and keep charging at no more than 80% until the repair is complete. Repair will be free at any franchised Mercedes-Benz dealer once available.
Mercedes-Benz is recalling 12,236 2022-2025 Eqb 250+, Eqb 250, Eqb 300 4MATIC, and Eqb 350 4MATIC electric vehicles because the high voltage battery can fail internally and start a fire while parked or driving. Owners should park outside and away from structures until the dealer repair is available, and that repair will be free.

What's wrong?
The high-voltage battery in 2022-2025 Mercedes-Benz Eqb 250+, Eqb 250, Eqb 300 4MATIC, and Eqb 350 4MATIC vehicles stores the electricity that drives the vehicle. The battery management software watches battery conditions and helps control how the pack charges, discharges, and protects itself. That control matters because the pack carries high energy even when the vehicle is parked.
On affected vehicles, supplier production variations left certain batteries less able to tolerate a high state of charge. Mercedes-Benz also identified outside factors, including charging current ripples or mechanical battery damage, as part of the failure path. Under those conditions, the battery can fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving.
If the problem develops while driving, the driver receives a high-voltage battery warning malfunction message in the instrument cluster. If it happens while the vehicle is parked, there is no warning sign before failure.

What happens at the repair
Until Mercedes-Benz confirms the repair for your VIN, follow the charging instruction and keep the battery at 80% or less. Once the dealer repair is available, a Mercedes-Benz technician updates the battery management system software. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. Mercedes-Benz's standard reimbursement plan covers eligible repairs paid before the owner letter. Keep related repair documents and ask MBUSA customer service or the dealer service desk how to submit them.
