What's wrong?
The SX2 instrument panel cluster in the 2025 Lincoln Corsair, Escape, and Bronco Sport is the display directly in front of the driver. It lights the gauges and warnings you rely on at startup and while driving, including speed, shift position, and safety-system alerts. When that screen is dark, the vehicle is missing information the driver is supposed to see.
In the recalled clusters, Kapton tape was placed incorrectly during assembly. That tape is supposed to cover certain printed circuit board parts, which are the small electronic pieces inside the cluster. With the tape out of position, the flex cable inside the cluster contacts those parts and causes a short circuit. The result is an instrument panel cluster black screen.
There is no warning sign before failure. The cluster fails by going dark at startup or while driving, so an owner first notices the problem when the display does not illuminate.

What's the safety risk?
When the instrument panel display fails, it can hide critical safety information, including vehicle speed and warning lights, increasing the risk of a crash. There is no warning sign before failure. If the display is missing safety information, stop when safe and call a Lincoln dealer. Repair is free at any franchised Lincoln dealer.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 25V049?
Recall 25V049 covers 298 2025 Lincoln Corsair, Ford Escape, and Ford Bronco Sport vehicles with an instrument panel cluster that can fail to illuminate. If the display does not show the speedometer or warning lights, crash risk increases. Dealers will replace the instrument panel cluster for free.
What should I do if my 2025 Lincoln Corsair, Ford Escape, or Ford Bronco Sport is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific vehicle is included in recall 25V049. If it is, contact a franchised dealer to schedule the instrument panel cluster replacement. Reference recall number 25V049 or Ford recall number 25C02 when you call. The repair is free.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost, and the remedy for recall 25V049 is a free instrument panel cluster replacement at a franchised dealer.
What is the safety risk?
