What's wrong?
On the affected 2024-2025 trucks, M22x80 flange bolts hold the steering arm and tie rod bracket to the steering knuckle. The steering arm and tie rod bracket transfer movement from the steering gear through the front axle so the wheels turn when the driver turns the steering wheel. Those joints depend on the bolts staying tight under heavy steering loads.
The problem is improper torque on those fasteners. Torque is the measured tightening force applied when the bolt is installed. If the bolts are not tightened to the required value, the steering arm or tie rod bracket can loosen and separate from the knuckle. That separation can result in loss of steering control.
There is no warning sign before failure during normal driving. The issue is only likely to be found if the fasteners are checked during maintenance or inspection.
Who's affected?
Covers 8 truck models across the 2024 and 2025 model years, with the same flange bolts used on steering linkage and tie rod connections.

What's the safety risk?
A loss of steering control increases the risk of a crash. There is no warning sign before failure, unless the fastener issue is found during maintenance or inspection. Schedule the recall repair soon and drive with caution until it is complete. Repair is free at any franchised Peterbilt dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2024-2025 Peterbilt 520, 548, 367, 389, 567 or Kenworth T480, T880, T800 truck is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Peterbilt dealer, or a Kenworth dealer for Kenworth-branded trucks, to schedule the free fastener repair.
- Ask the dealer to install correctly torqued steering-arm and tie-rod bracket fasteners, which fixes the fastener failure tied to loss of steering control.
- Bring the recall notice if you have it. If not, reference recall number 24V908 and PACCAR recall 24KWK or 24PBK when you call.
- Drive cautiously until the repair is complete and pull over safely if steering feels loose or abnormal.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Peterbilt technician installs new fasteners on the PACCAR steer axle connection points and torques them correctly. The recall repair is free, and parts and labor are covered. If you already paid for the same steering arm or tie rod bracket fastener repair before the recall notice, ask the Peterbilt dealer or PACCAR customer service how to submit documentation under the manufacturer's standard reimbursement plan.
