What's wrong?
The side curtain air bags in the 2020-2023 Chrysler Voyager and Pacifica are built into the upper side of the cabin. In a side impact or rollover-type event, the air bag system uses wiring in the body harness to send the deployment signal to the curtain air bags. The connector has to be fully seated for that signal path to stay intact.
On included vehicles, the curtain air bag connector was not secured correctly during assembly. This is not a defective air bag part. The problem is the connection: if the connector is loose or not fully engaged, the side curtain air bags can fail to deploy as designed during a crash.
There is no warning sign before failure. If the condition is present, an air bag warning light will illuminate, which means the air bag system has detected a fault and needs dealer inspection.

- Keep passengers belted and avoid delaying the dealer visit if the repair is still open for your VIN.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Chrysler technician secures the connector for the side curtain air bags so the system can deploy as designed in a crash. The recall repair is free, and Chrysler says all vehicles covered by this campaign have been remedied. If you already paid for a related connector repair, FCA's reimbursement practice lets owners submit the original receipt or other proof of payment to the company for review and confirmation of the expense.
