Recall 24V756 covers 2,061 2018-2019 GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado trucks for roof-rail air bag inflators. Repair is free at any franchised GMC dealer.
General Motors is recalling 2,061 2018-2019 GMC Sierra 3500, Sierra 2500, Silverado 3500, Silverado 2500, Silverado 1500, and Sierra 1500 crew cab trucks because a roof-rail air bag inflator end cap can detach or the inflator sidewall can rupture. Escaping compressed gas can send parts into the cabin and increase injury or crash risk; the dealer repair is free.

What's wrong?
The roof rail airbag is the curtain airbag mounted along the side of the cab roof. In a side crash or rollover, its inflator fills the curtain so it can help cover the side windows and protect occupants. On these 2018-2019 Crew Cab trucks, the affected part is the inflator inside that roof rail airbag assembly.
The problem is inside inflators from a suspect supplier lot. GM says the left or right roof rail airbag inflator end cap can detach from the inflator, or the inflator sidewall can rupture. That means the inflator does not stay contained the way it is designed to. GM and its supplier are still investigating the root cause.
There is no warning sign before failure. The reported Silverado incident involved a roof rail airbag inflator rupture while the truck was parked and unoccupied, so owners should not wait for a dashboard light, sound, or change in driving feel.
Who's affected?
Covers Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks from 2018 and 2019, all tied to the same side curtain air bag inflator.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific truck is included.
What's the safety risk?
If the inflator end cap separates or the inflator ruptures, compressed gas can escape and send the end cap or other parts into the cabin. That creates a risk of injury and can also lead to a crash. There is no warning sign before this failure, so schedule the recall repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised GMC dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2018-2019 GMC Sierra 3500, Sierra 2500, Silverado 3500, Silverado 2500, Silverado 1500, or Sierra 1500 is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised GMC dealer to schedule the free RRAB module replacement that addresses the roof-rail air bag inflator end cap detachment or rupture.
- Bring the owner letter if you have it. If not, reference recall number 24V756 when you call.
- Ask the dealer whether both left and right side RRAB modules will be replaced during the same visit.
- Drive with care until the repair is complete and keep passengers clear of the affected side curtain air bag areas when possible.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a GMC technician replaces the left and right roof-rail air bag modules. The replacement parts and labor are free under the recall. If you've already paid for a related roof-rail air bag repair before the recall notice, GM's standard reimbursement plan covers documented expenses. Bring repair invoices, receipts, and any related service paperwork to the dealer service desk, or contact GMC Customer Service to ask how to submit the claim.
