What's wrong?
The driver-side heated trailer tow rearview mirror on 2020-2023 Ram 1500 trucks is supposed to give the driver a stable reflected view down the side of the truck and trailer. The glass sits on a backing plate inside the mirror housing. When it is held in place correctly, the mirror keeps its reflective surface through vibration, weather, and normal door movement.
On affected trucks, the heated trailer tow mirror glass was not properly adhered to that backing plate. The glass can separate from the plate and leave the driver-side mirror without a useful reflective surface. That creates a rear-visibility problem and is why the recall is tied to the federal rear visibility rule.
There is no warning sign before failure. The mirror can look normal until the glass detaches, so an owner should treat loose, shifted, missing, or rattling driver-side mirror glass as a recall-related service issue.
Who's affected?
VINs have been searchable since December 5, 2024; the same replacement mirror glass part is listed for each model year.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific pickup truck is included.
What's the safety risk?
Detached mirror glass reduces what the driver can see around the truck and increases the risk of a crash. There is no warning sign before the glass separates, so confirm your VIN and schedule the repair promptly if included. Repair is free at any franchised Ram dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2020-2023 Ram 1500 is included in this recall.
- Contact your nearest franchised Ram dealer to schedule the free driver-side heated trailer tow mirror-glass replacement that fixes the detachment risk.
- Bring the recall notice if Ram mailed one. If not, reference recall number 24V754 when you call.
- Drive with extra mirror checks until the repair is complete; detached mirror glass reduces driver visibility.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Ram technician replaces the mirror glass in the driver's side heated trailer tow rearview mirror. The recall covers the replacement parts and labor. If you already paid out of pocket for the same mirror glass repair before the owner letter, FCA US asks customers to send the original receipt or other adequate proof of payment so the expense can be confirmed for reimbursement. Bring that paperwork when you contact customer service or the dealer service desk.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 24V754?
Recall 24V754 covers 31,676 2020-2023 Ram 1500 Classic vehicles with heated trailer tow rearview mirrors. The driver's side mirror glass can detach, reducing rear visibility and increasing crash risk. Ram dealers will replace the mirror glass for free.
What should I do if my 2020-2023 Ram 1500 is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific truck is included in recall 24V754. If it is, contact a franchised Ram dealer to schedule the driver's side mirror glass replacement. Reference recall number 24V754 or FCA recall number 86B when you call.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost, and Ram dealers will replace the affected mirror glass free of charge. Parts and labor are covered under this recall.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is reduced driver visibility. If the driver's side heated trailer tow mirror glass detaches, the truck fails to meet the rear-visibility standard and crash risk increases. Use extra caution until a Ram dealer completes the free mirror glass replacement.
What if I bought my Ram 1500 used?
The free repair still applies. Recall coverage follows the VIN, not the first owner. If you did not receive the owner letter mailed December 5, 2024, check your VIN and give recall number 24V754 to the Ram dealer service desk.
