What's wrong?
The wiring harness on these 2017-2023 Motiv E-450 Chassis, E-450 BEV Chassis, F-59 BEV Chassis, F-53 BEV Chassis, and F-59 Chassis vehicles carries low-voltage control power between the fuse box and the master disconnect switch. That 12-volt control power tells the high-voltage battery system to stay connected so the electric drive system has power for propulsion.
On affected vehicles, the harness was built without proper heat shrink insulation and a retention clip near a ring terminal, the round electrical connector fastened to a stud. Heat shrink is the protective sleeve around the wire connection, and the retention clip holds the harness so vibration does not work the wires loose. Without that protection and support, the wires can fatigue, crack, and lose connection to the high-voltage batteries. When that connection drops, the vehicle can lose drive power.
There is no warning sign before failure. The operator would not receive an advance warning before the loss of connection and propulsion.
Who's affected?
Spans five Motiv chassis variants across seven model years. The common component is the wiring harness between the fuse box and master disconnect switch.

What's the safety risk?
A loss of drive power raises the risk of a crash because the vehicle loses propulsion without advance warning. There is no warning sign before failure, so treat any sudden loss of power as a reason to move out of traffic, stop safely, and arrange service. Repair is free at any franchised Motiv dealer.
