What's wrong?
The Near Field Sensing Module, or NFSM, helps process camera information for the 3D surround camera system on affected 2024 Land Rover vehicles. That system feeds the display with views around the vehicle, including the rearview camera image used when backing up. The module has to manage that camera data while staying within its normal heat range.
On affected Defender, Discovery Sport, Range Rover, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Velar, and Range Rover Sport vehicles, a manufacturing error left out thermal interface material inside the module. That material normally helps move heat away from electronic components. Without it, heat builds up in the NFSM, and the module can overheat. When that happens, the camera images can fail to appear on the screen.
