Recall 24V600 covers 89 2018-2021 Blue Bird Vision and Vision Transit Bus buses for fuel-line coating defects. Repair is free at franchised Blue Bird dealers.

Blue Bird is recalling 89 2018-2021 Vision and Vision Transit Bus vehicles with 6.8L gasoline engines because the coating on the fuel lines was applied improperly, which can let fuel leak. A fuel leak near an ignition source increases the risk of a fire, and Blue Bird dealers will complete the recall repair free of charge.

What's wrong?

The fuel line assembly on the 2018-2021 Blue Bird Vision and Vision Transit Bus carries gasoline from the tank side of the system to the engine on buses with the 6.8L gasoline engine. The line uses a protective coating and quick-connect fittings, which are the connection points that let the line attach securely without threaded fittings. That coating is supposed to stop before the knurled section, the textured area that grips inside the connector.

On affected buses, the coating was applied too far down the line and reached the area that goes into the quick-connect fitting. If that coating is chipped or damaged, gasoline can wick underneath it and travel toward the fitting end. Under pressure, the line can leak at that connection instead of staying sealed.

Owners can notice fuel on the ground after the bus has been parked in the same spot for a long time. The leak can also be found during an annual inspection.
