What's wrong?
The rearview backup camera on 2024-2025 Genesis GV80 and GV60 vehicles sends the view behind the vehicle to the audio, video, and navigation head unit. That head unit is the center display in the dash. When reverse is selected, the system is supposed to keep the camera image on screen so the driver can check the area behind the vehicle.
On affected vehicles, the software logic inside that head unit is incorrect. Under specific driving conditions while the vehicle is in reverse, the display can shut off instead of showing the rear camera image. Genesis revised the software logic so the camera display stays available as required for rear visibility.
There is no warning sign before failure. The driver would notice the problem only when the vehicle is already in reverse and the rearview camera image goes blank or shuts off.
Who's affected?
Covers the GV60 across 2024 and 2025, plus the 2025 GV80; all use the audio, video, and navigation head-unit display tied to the camera system.

What's the safety risk?
When the rearview camera image does not display, backing up gives the driver less visibility and increases the risk of a crash. Use mirrors, look over your shoulder, and schedule the software update soon. Repair is free at any franchised Genesis dealer.
