Recall 24V445 affects 22,422 2019-2023 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLS53, AMG E53, AMG GT43, and AMG GT53 vehicles for wiring corrosion. Free repair once Mercedes-Benz opens it.
Mercedes-Benz is recalling 22,422 2019-2023 AMG CLS53, AMG E53, AMG GT53, and AMG GT43 vehicles because a transmission wiring harness connection has incorrect wiring from production or a prior recall repair. Corrosion at the connector can cause an electrical short and increase fire risk; the dealer repair will be free once Mercedes-Benz opens the final remedy.

What's wrong?
The transmission wiring harness on the 2019-2023 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLS53, AMG E53, AMG GT53, and AMG GT43 carries electrical signals to and from the transmission area. Its connector is supposed to stay sealed so water and road splash do not reach the terminals while the drivetrain moves and heats up.
On affected vehicles, that connector was not sealed enough for normal temperature changes and dynamic water exposure. Some vehicles also had the harness connection wired incorrectly during production or during the prior recall repair. Moisture can reach the connector, corrosion can build on the terminals, and that corrosion can lead to an electrical short-circuit.
Before a short circuit happens, the driver can see a yellow battery indicator lamp or a "4MATIC malfunction" message in the instrument cluster. Treat either warning as a sign that the transmission wiring harness connector needs dealer inspection.

What's the safety risk?
An electrical short circuit raises the risk of a fire. Before that happens, the yellow battery indicator lamp or a 4MATIC malfunction warning message can appear in the instrument cluster. Treat either warning as a reason to pull over safely and call a Mercedes-Benz dealer. Repair will be free at any franchised Mercedes-Benz dealer once Mercedes-Benz opens it.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2019-2023 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLS53, AMG E53, AMG GT53, or AMG GT43 is included in this recall.
- Wait for Mercedes-Benz to open the final dealer repair before scheduling the wiring-harness and connector replacement that fixes the corrosion-related short-circuit risk.
- Contact a franchised Mercedes-Benz dealer if you have questions about interim safety guidance before the final repair opens.
- Call Mercedes-Benz customer service at 1-877-496-3691 with questions and reference recall number 24V445 when you call.
- Keep the prior recall paperwork if your vehicle was repaired under recall 22V-533; Mercedes-Benz says those vehicles still need the new remedy.
What happens at the repair
Because the campaign is still in interim status, Mercedes-Benz has notified owners of the safety risk and will send a second notice when the final repair opens. Once available, a Mercedes-Benz technician will replace the two-part transmission wiring harness and connector. Parts and labor are covered by the recall. MBUSA also plans to notify owners about reimbursement before the recall notice because some vehicles were previously exposed to this condition. Keep related repair paperwork so you can follow MBUSA's reimbursement instructions when they arrive.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 24V445?
Recall 24V445 covers 22,422 2019-2023 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLS53, AMG E53, AMG GT53, and AMG GT43 vehicles with a transmission wiring harness connection issue. Corrosion at the connector can cause an electrical short circuit and increase fire risk.
What should I do if my 2019-2023 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLS53, AMG E53, AMG GT53, or AMG GT43 is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific vehicle is included in recall 24V445. If it is, call a franchised Mercedes-Benz dealer and ask whether the final wiring-harness replacement is available for your VIN. Reference MBUSA recall number 2024100002/3.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost. Mercedes-Benz dealers will replace the two-part wiring harness and connector free of charge once the final remedy is available for your vehicle.
Is it safe to drive my Mercedes-Benz before the repair?
The official safety risk is fire from an electrical short circuit. This recall is not marked do-not-drive, but you should confirm your VIN and ask a Mercedes-Benz dealer for current guidance before continuing to use the vehicle.
What if my Mercedes-Benz was repaired under recall 22V-533?
Your vehicle still needs this new recall remedy if its VIN is included. Mercedes-Benz says recall 24V445 supersedes recall 22V-533, and vehicles repaired under the prior recall still need the new wiring-harness and connector repair.
