What's wrong?
The lighting harness on 2023-2024 Altec Aerial Device units built on a Freightliner M2 Plus chassis carries power to exterior body lights, including marker lights. The trailer light module separates trailer lighting from the chassis lighting circuit, so the electrical load stays within the chassis capacity.
On affected units, the lighting circuit is overloaded because the added body lights draw too much power through the same chassis circuit. The M2 Plus chassis has lower current capacity than the older M2 chassis, and the harness setup did not divide the load enough. When the circuit faults, body lighting cuts out instead of staying illuminated.
There is no warning sign before failure. An owner or operator would notice the problem only when the marker or body lights stop illuminating, which can make the vehicle harder for other drivers to see.
Who's affected?
Covers the 2023 and 2024 model years, with the same trailer light module involved in each.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific vehicle is included.
What's the safety risk?
Failed lighting makes the vehicle harder for other drivers to see, increasing the risk of a crash. There is no warning sign before the lights stop illuminating, so check exterior and trailer lighting before use and schedule the repair soon if your VIN is included. Repair is free at any franchised Altec dealer.
