Recall 24V428 covers 65 2024 Audi Q8 Sportback E-Tron and Q8 E-Tron SUVs for brake-pressure-line leaks. Repair is free at any franchised Audi dealer.
Audi is recalling 65 2024 Q8 Sportback E-Tron and Q8 E-Tron vehicles because an over-tightened brake line connection can fail and leak brake fluid. Reduced braking ability can mean longer brake pedal travel or more distance to stop, increasing crash risk; Audi dealers will repair the brake line connection free of charge.

What's wrong?
The brake pressure lines on the 2024 Audi Q8 Sportback E-Tron and Q8 E-Tron carry brake fluid under pressure between parts of the braking system. When you press the pedal, that fluid pressure helps apply the brakes at the wheels. The line connections have to be tightened enough to seal, but not so tightly that the metal flange is overloaded.
On affected vehicles, a brake line junction was not assembled correctly during production rework. The connection was tightened with too much torque after improper handling of an electronically monitored screwing tool. That overload can break the flange at the line connection, letting brake fluid leak out and reducing braking power.
If this condition is present, the brake pedal travel becomes longer than normal and the display shows a "Brake fluid level low" message. The vehicle can still be slowed with reduced braking power through one front wheel brake and one rear wheel brake, but the warning means the brake system needs dealer inspection.
Who's affected?
The Q8 E-Tron and Q8 Sportback E-Tron share the same brake pressure line part in this recall.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific SUV is included.
What's the safety risk?
Reduced braking ability can make the brake pedal travel farther and extend the distance needed to stop, increasing the risk of a crash. If the pedal feels long or the "Brake fluid level low" message appears, slow down, pull over safely, and call an Audi dealer before continuing. Repair is free at any franchised Audi dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2024 Audi Q8 Sportback E-Tron or Q8 E-Tron is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Audi dealer to schedule the free brake pressure line inspection and replacement if needed, which addresses the leak risk behind reduced braking.
- Bring the recall notice Audi mailed, or reference recall number 24V428 when you call.
- Drive cautiously until the repair is complete. Leave extra following distance and avoid hard braking.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an Audi technician inspects the brake pressure line and replaces it if the line or connection does not pass inspection. The recall repair is free, and parts and labor are covered. Audi is not offering a separate reimbursement plan for this recall because affected vehicles are covered by the new vehicle limited warranty. If you already paid for a related brake pressure line repair, ask the service desk how warranty coverage applies to your prior repair paperwork.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 24V428?
Recall 24V428 covers 65 2024 Audi Q8 Sportback E-Tron and Q8 E-Tron vehicles with a brake line connection that was over-tightened. The connection can fail, leak brake fluid, and reduce braking ability. Audi dealers will inspect and replace the brake pressure line for free.
What should I do if my 2024 Audi Q8 Sportback E-Tron or Q8 E-Tron is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific Audi is included in recall 24V428. If it is, contact a franchised Audi dealer to schedule the brake pressure line inspection and replacement if needed. Reference recall number 24V428 or Audi recall number 47DE when you call.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost. Audi dealers will inspect the brake pressure line and replace it as needed free of charge, including parts and labor.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is reduced braking ability. If brake fluid leaks from the failed connection, the brake pedal can travel farther or the vehicle can need more distance to stop, increasing crash risk. If braking feels reduced, contact an Audi dealer before driving farther.
When were owners notified about recall 24V428?
Audi mailed owner notification letters on July 9, 2024. If you bought the vehicle used or never received a letter, the VIN still decides whether the recall applies. Check your VIN, then call a franchised Audi dealer with recall number 24V428 or Audi number 47DE.
