What's wrong?
The EV fuel fired heater diesel tank on 2021-2023 Blue Bird Vision School Bus models stores diesel for the heater, not for the electric powertrain. The heater draws fuel from this separate tank when cabin heat is needed. The tank also needs a working vent so pressure can escape without pushing fuel out.
On affected buses, the fuel tank was built with the return tube placed at the vent port. That layout puts fuel where the vent should handle air and pressure. During refueling, or when pressure builds inside the tank, diesel can spill from the tank instead of staying contained. Blue Bird's fix removes the return tube from the vent port so the vent can do its job.
There is no warning sign before failure. The problem shows up as diesel fuel leaking or spilling around the heater fuel tank, especially during refueling or after pressure builds in the tank.
Who's affected?
The same fuel-system tank assembly appears across the 2021, 2022, and 2023 Vision School Bus scope.

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific bus is included.
What's the safety risk?
Fuel leaking onto the road creates a hazard for other road users and increases the risk of a crash. Fuel that reaches an ignition source also increases the risk of a fire. There is no warning sign before failure, so schedule the tank repair promptly if your VIN is included. Repair is free at any franchised Blue Bird dealer.
