What's wrong?
The Intellipark Park Valve Module on 2024-2025 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley and Saf-T-Liner C2 school buses helps control the air-operated parking brake. Inside that module, a rubber ball seal helps hold and release air pressure so the parking brake applies when parked and releases when the bus is ready to move. The valve has to seal correctly for the park brake to behave as commanded.
In the affected modules, the rubber ball seal was improperly molded and can contain a crack. That crack can tear during assembly, then grow after repeated brake use and exposure to heat, cold, moisture, and road conditions. Once the seal leaks too much air, the parking brake can fail to hold or can engage unexpectedly while the bus is moving.
Drivers have status lights on the parking brake control switch and dashboard warnings for the parking brake. During a pre-trip inspection, the driver can notice missing air-exhaust sounds when parking or hear an excessive air leak before the bus is put in service.

What's the safety risk?
Park brake failure or unexpected park brake engagement while driving increases the risk of a crash. Watch the parking brake switch LEDs, dashboard telltales, dash messages, normal air-brake parking sounds, and air leaks during pre-trip inspection. If anything does not match normal operation, keep the bus out of service and call the dealer. Repair is free at any franchised Thomas Built Buses dealer.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Thomas Built Buses technician replaces the Intellipark PVM as a complete unit. The module is removed and replaced with a PVM that does not contain the defect; it is not opened or serviced in the field. Parts and labor are covered under the recall, and the repair is available now. Owner letters were mailed August 2, 2024, so a dealer can confirm the repair path for an included VIN.
