Do not drive

A fuel leak near an ignition source raises the risk of fire. Loss of fuel also can stall the engine and raise crash risk. There is no warning sign before this happens. Do not drive the bus, even for short trips, until the repair is complete. Repair is free at any franchised Nova Bus dealer.

Nova Bus is recalling 52 2022-2023 Lfs vehicles under recall 24V328 because insufficient crimping can let secondary fuel filter hoses disconnect and leak. Do not drive these buses until a Nova Bus dealer completes the free repair; a fuel leak near an ignition source increases fire risk, and loss of fuel can stall the engine.

What's wrong?

The secondary fuel filter hoses on the 2022-2023 Nova Bus Lfs are diesel fuel lines connected to the remote secondary fuel filter. That filter helps clean fuel before it continues through the engine fuel system. The hoses need tight crimped fittings, which are metal collars squeezed onto the hose ends so fuel stays contained under pressure.

On affected buses, the crimping on those hose fittings was not tight enough. The recalled hoses used 18.7 mm crimping, while the remedied hoses use 18.3 mm crimping on Cummins part number 6316899. If the fitting lets go, the secondary fuel filter hose can disconnect and leak diesel fuel.

There is no warning sign before failure. Because Nova Bus determined owners should not drive affected vehicles, do not drive an included bus until the repair or official service guidance clears it.

What happens at the repair

Do not drive the bus until this recall repair is complete. At the dealer, a Nova Bus technician replaces the secondary fuel filter hoses with properly crimped replacements so the hoses stay connected and do not leak fuel. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. Nova Bus uses its standard reimbursement plan for related repairs already paid before the recall notice. If you have already paid to replace or repair these fuel filter hoses, bring repair invoices, payment records, and any service notes to the service desk so the claim can be reviewed under that plan.
