What's wrong?
The Hercules HC 1.7 Node is an electronic control module in the Braun Ambulances electrical system. It sends power through output pins to equipment installed on the ambulance body, so those circuits turn on and off as commanded. The node and its firmware have to stop power flow when a circuit has a fault.
On included 2023, 2024, 2026 Braun Ambulances models, the 6060-2010-00 node and its firmware do not shut off the output pin after a short circuit or wiring failure. That leaves the circuit overloaded instead of protected. An overloaded circuit can build heat in the wiring or connected equipment, increasing the risk of heat damage and fire.
There is no warning sign before failure. The issue is tied to the node part number, firmware version, serial number, and date range, not to something an owner or crew member is expected to feel while driving.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Braun Ambulances technician updates the firmware in the node so the system can shut off the output pin as intended during a short circuit or wiring failure. The recall repair is free, and parts and labor are covered. If you already paid out of pocket for the same firmware remedy before the owner notice, Braun Ambulances provides reimbursement. Contact Braun Ambulances customer service or ask the service desk what documentation they need for the claim.
