What's wrong?
The passenger air bag in the 2021-2023 Jaguar E-Pace sits behind the facia, the dashboard panel in front of the passenger seat. During a crash, the air bag is supposed to push through a weakened deployment door in that panel, open cleanly, and inflate between the passenger and the hard interior surfaces.
On affected E-Pace SUVs, that deployment door was not weakened enough during manufacturing. When the passenger air bag deploys, it has to force through a panel that resists opening more than intended. That extra resistance can tear the air bag as it comes out, so the bag does not inflate in the shape Jaguar designed for occupant protection.
There is no warning sign before failure. The dashboard looks normal before a crash, and the defect shows itself only when the passenger air bag deploys.
Who's affected?
Covers E-Pace from the 2021, 2022, and 2023 model years, all tied to the air bag system.

What's the safety risk?
A torn passenger air bag can provide less protection in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. It can also let hot gases escape and burn an occupant. Schedule the passenger air bag module replacement soon. Repair is free at any franchised Jaguar dealer.
