What's wrong?
The rear brake lines on these 2018-2024 Starcraft Bus transit buses are hydraulic lines that carry pressurized brake fluid to the rear foundation brakes. When the driver presses the brake pedal, that pressure moves through the lines so the rear brakes help slow and stop the bus. The lines need to stay clipped in place and clear of the frame.
On the recalled buses, retainer clips, also called P-clamps, were not installed during chassis stretching. Without those clips, the brake lines are not held where they belong. A loose line rubs against the frame rail, and that contact damages the line over time. Forest River traced the problem to a manufacturing error.
There is no warning sign before failure. The recall filing lists no owner-noticeable symptom before the brake line problem occurs.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Starcraft Bus technician inspects the brake lines and secures them so they do not contact the frame rail. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. The manufacturer used its general reimbursement plan on file, so documented out of pocket repairs tied to this brake line issue are handled through that plan. Bring prior repair paperwork to the service desk and ask how to submit it for review.

What should I do if my 2018-2024 Starcraft Bus transit bus is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific bus is included in recall 24V253. If it is, contact a franchised Starcraft Bus dealer to schedule the brake-line inspection and repair. Reference Forest River Bus recall number 05-1756 when you call.
