What's wrong?

The Suburban cooktop range in these Keystone RVs uses an LED backlight circuit board behind the control knobs. That board powers the red knob lighting, so the knobs are easier to see when the range is in use. The lighting circuit is separate from the burner controls, but it still carries electrical current inside the appliance.

On affected Fuzion, Montana, Aspen Trail, Montana High Country, and Cruiser units, the circuit board was not coated with enough protective sealant. That coating is supposed to keep contamination away from the board. When contamination reaches the board, the LED backlight circuit fails and the board overheats, which has led to melted stove knob lighting.

Owners can notice the knob backlights staying on even when the knobs are turned off. The lights can also turn on at random and stay illuminated. That is the warning sign to take seriously before the board overheats.

Who's affected?

The scope includes Keystone, Dutchmen, and Crossroads nameplates under the Keystone RV filing, all tied to the same oven/stove/cooktop component.
