What's wrong?
The dump body on 2021-2024 Reading Truck Equipment Dump Bodied Trucks has a primary electrical fuse near the vehicle battery. That fuse protects the dump body electrical circuit by opening the circuit if current rises too high. Its mounting bracket is supposed to hold the fuse and terminal far enough from the underside of the hood.
On affected trucks, the fuse was installed too close to the engine side of the hood. With too little clearance, the hood can contact the fuse terminal. That contact can heat the area and start an underhood electrical thermal event. The repair relocates the fuse and terminal so the bracket provides the clearance called for in Ford Service Bulletin Q-277.
The warning sign Reading Truck Equipment identified is underhood smoke. If smoke comes from the hood area, stop using the truck, keep clear of the engine compartment, and contact a Reading Truck Equipment service location.
