What's wrong?
The affected 2020-2024 Porsche Taycan models use a high-voltage battery to store energy for the electric drive system. Inside that battery are cell block modules, which group battery cells together so the car can deliver power and accept charge in a controlled way. The battery management system depends on those modules staying electrically isolated where they should be isolated.
In this recall, production issues in certain high-voltage battery modules increase the risk of an internal short circuit. A short circuit means electrical current travels through a path it should not take inside the module. That fault can create heat inside the battery, including after charging, and Porsche identified affected production clusters through battery data and hardware analysis.
