What's wrong?

The Hydronic L-II Coolant Heater on the 2010, 2024 Prevost H3-45 Vip, H3-45, and X3-45 vehicles heats engine coolant so the coach has cabin heat and coolant heat before or during operation. It burns diesel fuel in a combustion chamber, then transfers that heat into the coolant loop. That process depends on the right mix of air and fuel.

On the recalled heaters, the supplier found the air to fuel ratio was not adjusted correctly during production. With the mixture off, combustion can run too rich and create excessive exhaust gas. Components inside the combustion chamber can overheat and show thermal damage, which is why Prevost and the supplier are correcting the heater adjustment.

Owners can notice black smoke coming from the heater, error messages on the heater control unit, or weaker heating performance. Those signs mean the heater is not burning fuel correctly and needs dealer attention.

Who's affected?

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether this recall applies to your specific bus.

What's the safety risk?

Excess exhaust gas can raise carbon monoxide exposure, and an overheating heater can start a fire. A fire during travel can force evacuation in traffic and increase passenger injury risk. Do not operate the heater until Prevost repairs it. Watch for black smoke, control-unit error messages, or reduced heat. Repair is free at any franchised Prevost dealer.

What should I do?

  1. Check your VIN to confirm your 2010, 2024 Prevost H3-45 Vip, H3-45, or X3-45 is included in this recall.
  2. Contact a franchised Prevost dealer to schedule the free coolant-heater inspection and repair that addresses excessive exhaust gas and overheating.
  3. Avoid using the coolant heaters until Prevost completes the repair.
  4. Bring the recall notice if you have it, and reference recall number 24V213 and Prevost recall SR24-13 when you call.
  5. Call Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046 with questions about scheduling or heater use before repair.

What happens at the repair

Do not operate the coolant heaters until the repair is complete. At the dealer, a Prevost technician inspects the coolant heaters, replaces damaged components, cleans the heater's internal components, and adjusts the air to fuel ratio. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. If you already paid to inspect or correct this defect before the safety recall launched, Prevost's reimbursement plan covers that prior repair. Bring repair paperwork to the service desk or contact Prevost customer service for the claim process.
