What's wrong?
The control wiring assembly on the 2024 Genesis GV70 carries electrical signals between the vehicle's computers and the transmission controls. Those signals help the transmission understand the selected gear and stay in the commanded position, including Park. The connectors on that harness are supposed to keep water out while maintaining clean electrical contact.
On affected GV70 SUVs, blanking pins inside the harness connectors were installed incorrectly by the supplier. Those pins close unused openings in the connector. When they are not seated correctly, water can leak into the transmission control harness. Moisture inside the connector can create a short circuit, and that short can unexpectedly shift the transmission from Park to Neutral.
The warning sign listed for this recall is the malfunction indicator light turning on. If that light appears, the harness has already detected a fault condition, so treat it as a real warning and have the recall repair handled through a Genesis dealer.

What's the safety risk?
An unexpected shift from Park to Neutral can let the GV70 roll away and increase the risk of a crash or injury. If the malfunction indicator light comes on, park carefully, turn off the ignition, set the emergency parking brake, and schedule the recall repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised Genesis dealer.
