Recall 24V145 affects 936 2009-2024 Kenworth trucks with air tanks too small for the brake system. Repair is free at any franchised Kenworth dealer.
Kenworth is recalling 936 2009-2024 C500, T370, T680, T440, T470, T660, T880, W900, T800, and T480 trucks because the air tanks do not hold enough air for the brake system. What's wrong?
The air tanks on these 2009-2024 Kenworth trucks are reservoirs for compressed air used by the air brake system. They store air so the brake system has reserve pressure when the driver applies the brakes, releases them, and applies them again. On C500, T370, T680, T440, T470, T660, T880, W900, T800, and T480 trucks, tank capacity is part of how the whole brake system is sized.
In recall 24V145, the problem is not a cracked tank or leaking line. The issue is that certain trucks were built with less air reservoir volume than required for the brake system. Kenworth traced the condition to inconsistencies in order processing data, including tank volume information used when calculating each truck's required air capacity.
The driver warning is low air pressure. A dash warning light and audible alarm will alert the driver, and the primary and secondary air pressure gauges will show the pressure drop.

What's the safety risk?
Low air volume in the brake system can reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash. Watch for a dash warning light, an audible low-pressure alarm, or low readings on the primary and secondary air gauges. Treat those alerts seriously and schedule the repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised Kenworth dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2009-2024 Kenworth C500, T370, T680, T440, T470, T660, T880, W900, T800, or T480 is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Kenworth dealer to schedule the free correct-volume air tank installation that restores the brake system air supply.
- Bring the recall notice if Kenworth mailed one. If not, reference recall number 24V145 when you call.
- Drive cautiously until the repair is complete. Leave extra following distance and allow more room to stop.
- Call Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5888 with questions about recall 24V145.
What happens at the repair
