Recall 24V144 affects 216 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning BEV trucks for loose battery busbar fasteners. Repair is free at any franchised Ford dealer.
Ford is recalling 216 2023 F-150 Lightning BEV trucks because fasteners inside the high-voltage battery pack were not tightened securely, which can cause electrical arcing at the junction box bus bars. Electrical arcing increases the risk of fire, and a loss of drive power raises crash risk; Ford dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning BEV uses a high-voltage battery pack to store and send power to the electric drive system. Inside that pack, bus bars are metal conductors that carry heavy electrical current, and retention nuts are small threaded fasteners that hold those conductors tight in the junction box.
On affected trucks, retention nuts on the battery junction box bus bars were removed in error during a rework operation and were not checked again for proper torque. A loose connection can let current jump across a gap instead of flowing cleanly through the bus bar. That electrical arcing can damage the connection and interrupt power from the high-voltage battery.
Before the truck loses motive power, the driver can hear a loud noise while driving. A "Stop Safely Now" message and malfunction indicator light will appear in the instrument cluster. The truck can coast to a stop, and 12V battery power keeps assisted steering and braking available.

What's the safety risk?
Electrical arcing raises the risk of fire. The vehicle can also lose drive power, which increases crash risk. If you hear a loud noise, see a "Stop Safely Now" message, or see a malfunction indicator light, coast to a safe place and call a Ford dealer. Repair is free at any franchised Ford dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning BEV is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Ford dealer to schedule the free busbar-fastener inspection and repair that fixes the loose high-voltage battery connections.
- Bring the recall notice if Ford mailed one. If not, reference recall number 24V144 when you call.
- Call Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 with questions about scheduling or dealer instructions.
- Drive cautiously until the repair is complete; the busbar issue can cause electrical arcing and loss of drive power.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Ford technician inspects the junction box busbar fasteners inside the high-voltage battery pack, repairs the fasteners, and replaces damaged components as necessary. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. Ford's general reimbursement plan covers eligible owner-paid repairs completed before the recall notice, with reimbursement eligibility ending April 5, 2024. Ask the Ford service desk or Ford customer service how to submit documentation for a prior related repair.
