What's wrong?
The 2023 Foretravel Realm Presidential and Realm use an independent front suspension with a steering gear supplied through Cummins-Meritor and RH Sheppard. The steering gear turns hydraulic pressure into steering movement, so the driver gets power assist instead of having to muscle the front wheels through the steering wheel.
On affected coaches, the sector shaft inside the steering gear contacted an inspection camera ring during assembly. That contact chipped plastic from the ring and introduced foreign material into the gear. As the material moves through the steering gear, it can build pressure inside the system and cut power steering assist, especially when steering to the right.
There is no warning sign before failure. The driver would notice the steering wheel suddenly requires much more effort, which makes the coach harder to control until the steering assist returns or the vehicle is stopped.
